Day #2

HI All-

I am in an internet cafe in the metro...100 yen for an hour...about 1 dollar!

Today I took a tour of Tokyo with a guide from here. We went to the two main shrines and temples by the Meji dynasty. Very interesting. After we went to a place for traditional Japanese pancakes which were so good. You make your own on a grill (think mongolian bbq).

Tonight we are going to a Tokyo Giants vs Swallows game...if I manage to stay awake!!! Last night I fell asleep at 6pm!

Hope everyone is well! Leslie thanks for the Mastercard idea...maybe it will work!

Kanichiwa!!!

I am here safe in Japan posting fromt he Apple store probably illegally so this is short...Japan is great but HUMID AND HOT!!!! I bought a designer sweat towel today to fit in with the crowd. More on that later.

Quick update on flight...It was a late so I got in very late last night and was totally confused as to what day it was.

Unlimited snacks on flight = awesome
Throwing up unlimited snacks on flight = not so awesome

Aisle seat = awesome
Guy jamming his seat into my legs repeatedly = not so awesome

Your own personal tv = awesome
Such cinema classics such as Queen Latifah in last Holiday - not so awesome

But all in all Japan is great. When I can I will upload pictures from 5:30 am today of the fish market...WILD...I had the best sushi in the world there and now I am spoiled...I don't think Spices will cut it anymore!!!!

Ideas for Presents

So, apparently presents in Japan are a big deal (Ms. Lewis has warned me!). I have most of my gifts, but I still don't have gifts for the girls that will be showing me to schools in Tokyo. They are 16 and 18 years old. I want something nice, inexpensive, and easily packed. Any ideas?

Hi Friends

Dear Friends, Family, and Colleagues,

I have created this blog to keep you updated on my travels and learnings in Japan. I will try to update this blog every couple of days so you can see what I am up to and what I have learned about the culture and education in Japan. You will also be able to post comments as well.

I can't wait to share with you my experiences! I am sure I will have a lot!

Much Love,

Liz
